Milan Fashion Week Part Two

Today we look back at three great shows that happen in Milan for the fall and winter 2014.  We have Dundas who has officially found his mark in the Pucci house, Angela Missoni show casing great designs with vibrant fall colours, and of course the great Giorgio Armani how happened to be snubbed by Anna Wintour on the last day of the shows. 

Emilio Pucci

Still staying with the classic Pucci we all come to love with those great graphic prints, Dundas did played around a little using his childhood as a big inspiration. 

As a child his grandmother would always be knitting, which played well in the show with lots of big chunky knits.

Also his home in Norway got some attention with the amazing luxe furs and tribal blankets. 

After looking at everything that came down the runway I would have to say this may be his best show yet. He is finally making the fashion house his own, and people are responding to it in a great way!

 




















Missoni 






"We did a lot of research specifically into texture, to give the knits structure" said Angela Missoni on knitted fabrications of this collection.
80% of the collection this season was in fact all knitted, with all the detail it was hard to really tell if some of it was.
This show was mostly dedicated to the urban women but rather wearable with some great pieces.
The colour palette for the season was very typical to what you would see in fall, but the execution of it was what made it beyond "typical." With rich vibrant brunt oranges and yellow mixed with the knit texture it was everything you came to love from Missoni and more.

Giorgio Armani




After being told that Anna Wintour will not be coming to your show any more, but her "people" will be there instead you can expect Giorgio Armani to be a little upset.
However he put that aside and continued with the show which turned out to be a great way to close the Milan fashion week.
The title of the show was called "Fade to Grey" and with the main colour in the title it left people wondering what to expect.
The majority of the collection was done in grey flannel with splashes of lime trough out the show.
The lime was very different to see come down the runway but it worked, lime with what looked like a chiffon over lay in black just worked together.

Milan Fashion Week Part One

With fashion month almost coming to a close this week we are looking at Milan. 

Milan had great shows and some great drama.

Lets just say how would you feel if you got snubbed by Anna Wintour on the last day of fashion week? 

Today we will be looking at a few of my favourite shows and Wednesday we will close the book of Milan. 

Gucci

With this collection being inspired by the documentary The Director which was produce by James Franco whats not to like.  The documentary is based on Frida Giannini's design process which brought the designer back to her glory days. "I felt the need to materialize the essence of Gucci. A longing for the precision and clean lines" Giannini stated about the collection. It felt very sixties and with the look of the swinging London era. 

Fendi 

Karl is everything I love about fashion, so as you could expect I was more then excited to see what was to come to Fendi. He did not disappoint, and when the model walked down the runway with the latest update of the Fendi's little monsters which was a bag boy of Karl himself I was sold! 

Aside from the Karl bag we saw amazing furs and coats with little tufts of fur sporting from them. 

The way Karl looked at the collection he called it more like couture universelle. Which was a great way to describe when looking at the collection and finding one main point in the inspiration behind the collection.

Prada

This show was described as Part 2 in the theatrical performance of the runway. Part 1 was considered the mens show that was in January. With it being theatrical it was preparing you as Characters, Space, Costumes, Music, and Light and thats what it did.

I may have not saw all the inspiration from that description but you do see the inspiration from the 1972 film The Bitter Tears of Petra Von Kant. 

Miuccia spoke of this by saying "Your culture is alone by your past, History is there for a reason."

Be Brave

Creative Work = Creative Space

Since starting the blog back up I have been spending more time in my home office, which makes me really want to redecorate! 

I love beautiful things and a beautiful work space goes hand in hand with beautiful work. 

So as I start to prep for a redesign on my space I go to Pinterest for some inspiration.

Below are a few looks that I hope to achieve in my own home office.

I love the cleanness and minimalist of these looks.

LFW Part Two

Today we finish our look back at London fashion week. We will be looking at Burberry, Peter Pilotto, and Tom Ford. 

Burberry 

With just being promoted to CEO it seems that Chris Bailey is on his game. This collection was based on the girls in the Bloombury Group. 

 It was very boho with great airy fabrics, florals and those great hand painted trench coats. 

Burberry recently partnered with the trust that works to preserve the Charleston the estate that functioned as the Bloombury Groups home.

It really showed through this collection that Bailey is very involved with protected this part of history.

Peter Pilotto 

With the Target collaboration not doing so well, the runway show was pretty good. Personally it wasn't

 great but it wasn't bad either, it was just what it was a Pilotto show. He had some great prints and nice minimal dress. I feel as if they need to step back and re look at the design and have some fun with the clothes. 

It felt as if they were going through the motions, almost as if it was force. 

With that being said the show was good with some great pieces.

Tom Ford 

Fur, Velvet, Sequins, Turtle Necks, Prints, Cowboy Boots and Tom Ford. 

This collection was everything (literally) a girl could want with a studio 54 swing on it. Fords collection this year was very 60's inspired and with that came the fun. 

Lets just say I need the sequin jersey and to now listen to Jay Z.
