CFDA Awards

It was one fashionable awards ceremony, or better known as the CFDA's. It was a star studded event that had rooms filled with beautiful people and beautiful clothes. My personal favorite look of the night was the one of Sarah Jessica Parker who wore a stunning floor length number created by the late Alexander McQueen. Sarah Burton, the new head designer of McQueen was recently chosen to carry on with his legacy and hand picked this exqusite number for Parker. The moving and powerful speech she gave as a tribute to McQueen was emotional and heartfelt. During the tribute, they displayed his very last collection which was anything from ordinary. "He was a singular man. How do you do him justice in a few words?" said Parker during the cocktail hour of the awards.

Lots of desevering designers went home with awards last night. Such as the nine time winner Marc Jacobs. He was awarded with the Womenswear Design Statuette.

The always adorable Jason Wu took home the Swarovski Womenswear Statuette. At the dinner following the awards ceremony, he mentioned how nervous he was before the night begun. "I was so nervous, I asked Rachel for advice. She told me 'Just breath.' I think it was her red lipstick. Red is good luck in Chinese culture."

I could not be any happier with the winners of the night. Each person was more than deserving of their awards. Below is the complete list of the winners from the night.
On that note, I will leave you with my favorite quote from the night. It comes from the honoree of the Eugenia Sheppard Award, Kim Hastreiter of Paper Magazine. "I hope the fashion world looks beyond the usual suspects. Just because you're cute, well connected, rich, or the offspring of someone famous doesn't mean you design great stuff."

Wise Words

"Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening."

Starlight - Victoria Beckham

It has been revealed that the former "Posh Spice" is the most glamorous women in the world! Max Factor recently polled 3,000 women who they would pick as the most glamorous and topping the charts was none other then Victoria Beckham. I would have to agree, she always looks great in whatever she wears. She is a true style icon from her hair to her shoes. Once being in the Spice Girls and then turned fashion designer, she has definitely made a name for herself. One could only wish to master her grace, elegance, and style. Although aside from her amazing style and taste for clothes, the most glamorous part about Beckham would have to be her confidence. The biggest part in style is having confidence in who you are and she has the perfect balance of confidence. After reading and watching interviews she has done, I've also learned that Victoria is really down to earth. She drive her kids to school and even helps them with their homework. She does wash the dishes and clean as well. So now I guess it's up to the rest of you, do you think Victoria Beckham is the most glamorous?

Wise Words

I design for real people. I think of our customers all the time. There is no virtue whatsoever in creating clothing or accessories that are not practical.

What a wonderful life

So its the month of May, most of the flowers are coming up the grass is turning green. I really love spring it feels like a fresh start. I'm now back home from Saskatoon it was a busy time while I was up there and when I came back. So it has been difficult to get the time to update with catching up at work, having a cold for a week, and now apartment hunting I have next to no social life. But once everything falls back into place which it is slowly I'll be back! Aside from all of that the month of May for me is this month of what seems like celebration. It seems every week there is at least two peoples birthday along side with mother days. My favorite holiday in my standards is birthdays, Its that one day in the whole year that is yours and you get to celebrate any way you want. Its a time to celebrate life and also a very good excuse to eat as much cake as you want!

It must be a dream

It has been a crazy few weeks here for me. First I was nose deep in my text books as I had a exam to write then the boyfriend (lets call him Boy) flew out to Saskatoon. That in turn came with lots and lots of laundry and cleaning around the house in general. So once the exam was all written I was off to Saskatoon to met Boy and his family. It is nice to finally be on vacation relaxing on the couch in sunny Saskatoon waiting to go to Prince Albert where he grew up. But to say the lest I hope to keep you update more often now that my life is somewhat back in order!
